Living History Farms

It was photography day at the Farm. A Canon rep was there and I was able to check out a lens. YEAH! I probably would've checked out more, but we managed to spend three hours before I got back to the Canon display. So, I really didn't have time to go back out and about with another lens since I had to make it to a photography session for a friend. Here are some shots of the family that I captured using this particular lens, which I now want to own.

Levi was the popular "kid" as soon as he picked up this critter. You know it's fall when you see an arrangement like this. I love the colors!

Good Morning.

It's a good morning! Levi made it home (very late) last night and the kids woke up in good spirits today. I just hope it lasts when we all pile in the car after school for a few hours. Anyway, Ayv got all dolled up for preschool this morning. You'd think she was quite a bit older by how she dressed. She's pretty stylish!

My new cut.

Here's what I got over my lunch hour...a new do. It's a bit more choppy and I had a good 4-5 inches cut off for sure. I love how it feels. (Ayv took the pics - she did very well!!!)

This is Louisa County!

I visited Lake Odessa on Sunday morning to catch those in attendance at the Odessa Field Day. I happened to drag my sister along with me since she was down here visiting. She hadn't been to the lake before. It was a gorgeous morning, and here are a few samples of the pics I took while there.

On our way back home, this is what the sky looked like. I don't recall seeing clouds like this before.

just one more pic

I thought this was too cute to not post. I just love her little smile...my 11 month old baby. She's not much of a "baby" anymore.

Go Clones!

Well, the Iowa/Iowa State game was a good one. ISU took home the trophy today with a 15-13 win. I'm sure it's because Ayla sported her jersey and showed some support for Iowa State today. Here's proof!
I played a bit with backlighting again today during Ayden's football game. These are a couple of my favorites.

Check out my imaging blog...

I put some pics over there (on my imaging Rox blog) of my mini session with the kids last night. Here is one sample that I think is really fun!

Sunday's coming to an end.

We worked on going through things in the house today. So much stuff to still go through. It ended nicely when our friends showed up for supper (and to pick up their pictures). The kids enjoyed the company. I can't end a post without pics, so here you go!

What is my husband teaching my kids? Putting some graffiti on the desk is okay? At least it's a nice gesture.

Ayla seems too young to have boyfriends! And this is what NOT to do on the hobby horse!

Holey Moley!

What a difference there is between using a UV filter...and not! I snapped this pic in the truck on our way home from the Photo Shop this afternoon. I had been holding out on buying filters for my new lenses...and so glad I am not waiting any longer. The sky really is blue (and the strawberry is oh, so red)!

We also had a pit-stop to pick up this lovely addition to our family. Ayv kept asking if it was a real horse that we were going to pick up. We assured her it was real - she didn't ask if it was alive. She kept thinking about how we were going to bring it home since she knew it would be too big to put in the back of the truck (all the while, Ayden telling her it was not real). Now she doesn't know if she should "trust" us. What 4 (very close to 5) year old understands the full realm of trust? I guess ours does.

I sure hope to snap some pics of the kiddos on this baby tomorrow.

Mmmm....a Mocha

Doesn't that sound good? Instead of my favorite beverage, I'll provide you with a tasty visual mocha treat. Here's another shot of Ayv from today. I love how her eyes just pop out...even with her goofy grin!
Nighty, night!

more of the girls

Ayvarie thought she was little miss smarty pants this morning with Levi's glasses.
Ayla decided to forgo a nap today until early this evening. Levi was the lucky recipient of her snuggles before she gave in to sleep.

And Ayv was thrilled when her friend, K, stopped by to play this evening. She is struggling with what to do during the day, while Ayden is in school.

Can you see from the gleam in her eyes how excited she was???

We are planning to pick up a hobby horse (like those you find at the park) tomorrow. I can't wait to see what kind of shots I can get with the kids on it!

Have a good night!

Somewhere Over the Rainbow{s}

Isn't this a sight? On the way back from dance tonight, we saw a nice rainbow - in its entirety - end to end! Then, as we got into town and looked over at it again, it was not just one rainbow, but two. Thankfully nobody was behind me when I stopped the car in the middle of the road so I could stick my neck out and snap some pictures. I jazzed this image up a bit with an overlay, a border, burning & some text. I think it'll make for an interesting print.

Oh, and here are a couple of pics Levi took this afternoon to show off my wavy hair. It air dried that way! But, after a bit of hairspray it ended up looking a bit frizzy...oh well. I really like how the back looks. Hmmmm....is there a wave perm in my future???
